Designer Drugs You Should Be Aware Of

Those looking for a more intense high than regular drugs like cannabis often consider designer drugs to be a preferable alternative. However, these drugs are often far stronger than regular drugs and can have serious or even fatal effects, even after a single dose.

Why Designer Drugs Are Dangerous

Designer drugs are created quickly in makeshift labs, with no regard for testing, dosage, or ingredients. Because of these factors, these drugs have a range of harmful effects.

Harmful Effects

MDMA, also known as ecstasy, comes in pill and powder form. Its negative effects include elevated heart rate, cardiac arrest, and dehydration. Bath salts, called Vanilla Sky and White Lightning among other names, can result in seizures, psychosis, and loss of muscle control.

Fentanyl is sold as a pain reliever but is also known as the designer drugs TNT and China White. Depressed breathing, low blood pressure, and loss of body control are just a few of many harmful effects associated with the misuse of Fentanyl.

The cycle of addiction can be broken with the right treatment. For more information about designer drugs and how to get help for yourself or a loved one, see this infographic from Yellowstone Recovery.
