Breaking Down the Opioid Epidemic in America

Were you aware that there is an opioid epidemic occurring in America right now? Opioids are a class of drugs commonly prescribed for pain management by health care providers. Over the past few decades, the number of prescriptions of opioids has grown significantly and is one of the contributing factors for the current epidemic.

Opioids are very addictive, and it takes just a single prescription for a person to get hooked on these pain relievers. Another cause for the opioid epidemic in America is that, when prescriptions run out, people turn instead to street drugs like heroin.

In addition, synthetic opioids are finding their way into black-market street supplies. Yet, what many people do not realize is that synthetics are very powerful and just one small dose could be enough to kill them.

What Can Be Done to Solve the Opioid Epidemic in America?

There are several different things we can do to help fight this epidemic. There are various approaches that must be taken, which include providing the help and support people already addicted to opioids need, as well as educating the public and bringing awareness to this epidemic.
